Everyone has to have a Teacher

Tinta was my Teacher - She walked or rather bounced into my life off a lorry from Epsom on what would have been this day 19 years ago.

Not only did she teach me so much about horsemanship, she taught me how to deal with sensitivity, how to ground myself and control my energy and how to rein in my good intention.

She also taught me how to work around a No or rather what I thought back in the early days was a no but soon learnt that there was generally a reason behind that no, an anxiety or a misunderstanding or a fear from a past experience.

She taught me that I could plan a months worth of activities to do throughout the winter evenings and she would get through half of them in one session! She was far too intelligent for me or any other human!

She taught me when I was being faffy by giving one long blow out of a sigh.

She taught me that if I was not 100% focused and had my attention on other things then she had other things to do.

She taught me that I had to make a decision in which direction we where going before we got to the bottom of the road otherwise she would make it for me.

She taught me that no matter if I had thought she had had the last bit of carrot or pony nut in my pocket there was definitely one in the other that I had forgotten about.

She taught me Equine Touch - although in the early days when I was learning it did take me 3 months before she would allow me to work with her and give her a full session - well

practice does make perfect I suppose!

After her being part of my life and my greatest teacher and sanity when life gets far too crazy she has gone and I am feeling very lost. She simply passed away on Friday evening coming over the hill with her field mate as usual for her dinner. She got to have the last word it was on her terms and I feel so lucky that I never had to make a decision on when it was time.

She was my horse of a lifetime and I feel so lucky and privileged to have known her and that she was able to spend the last 8 years of her life roaming on 28 acres of pasture land with her soul mate Cloud and our little herd of bullocks.

Whilst it is very difficult at the moment to think of how the future looks without her she has been my inspiration over the last 15 years for learning my different bodywork modalities and was certainly proof that having played high goal polo up until she was 17 the stresses, strains and compensations where able to be helped by Equine Touch.

It is because of her that I have been able to help so many other horses and ponies over the years and therefore I will continue to do so. I just ask that you be gentle with me over the next few weeks / months and have tea and tissues on hand.
